Our Sports Medicine Physicians are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of sports related injuries. They are available with or without a referral from a family physician, and their services are covered under OHIP.
Dr. Grant Lum, MD, CCFP, Dip Sport Med, Medical director and founder
Grant has been practicing sports medicine since 1994. He is the team physician for Squash Canada, a consultant for the NHL Players’ Association, and a Lecturer at The University of Toronto, in the Faculty of Medicine. Grant is also the Medical Director of the Fitness and Lifestyle Management Program at George Brown College, where he assists in curriculum development.
Grant’s performing arts practice includes work with York University, where he is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts, in the Department of Dance, where he helps take care of Dance faculty and students. Grant is a consultant to Toronto Dance Theatre, and has been the Toronto physician for several Toronto stops of Cirque du Soleil.
Grant sees patients with or without a referral from a physician.
Dr. Melanie De Haan, MD, FRCP (C) Physiatry, Sports Medicine Physician
Melanie is a physiatrist and sports medicine physician. She currently practices at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre as a consultant in Neuromuscular Disorders, and has subspecialty training in Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Testing.
She will be seeing sports medicine patients by referral from a physician.
Melanie is currently on maternity leave, but is expected back in early 2010.
Dr. Steven Dilkas, MD, FRCP (C) Physiatry, Sports Medicine Physician
Steve is a physiatrist and sports medicine physician. He currently practices at West Park Hospital as a consultant in Neuromuscular Disorders, and has subspecialty training in Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Testing.
