Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is based on the principle of reducing inflammation and restoring normal blood flow to injured tissues.  Massage can reduce swelling, reduce pain and spasm, and lengthen muscles.

Adam Cook, PTA, RMT, U/S, Clinic Manager - AESM @ Boulevard

Adam is a graduate of the Sutherland Chan School of Massage.  He has been with AESM since 2002, and has been clinic manager at AESM @ Boulevard since 2003.  Adam's skills as a massage therapist are supplemented by his accreditation as a physiotherapy assistant, and a certification in ultrasound provision.  Adam works extensively with the professional dance community and served as the lead therapist to the cast of Cirque du Soleil in several of their shows in Toronto.  Adam is an ex-high school football player, and keeps active cycling as well as lifting weights.

Helen Li, BSc (Hon), RMT, U/S, ART - AESM downtown and AESM @ Boulevard

Helen is a graduate of the Sutherland Chan School of Massage.  She has been involved in providing care at events such as marathons and dragon boat festivals.  Helen is also certified in ultrasound provision, as well as Active Release Technique, a rare certification for massage therapists.  She divides her time between AESM's two locations.

Nancy Laythorpe, RMT - AESM downtown

Nancy is a graduate of the Kikkawa College program in massage therapy.  She will be joining our team as of the beginning of November, 2009.  Nancy has a special interest in runners, being one herself.  She also has advanced skills in pregnancy massage.

Mike Hoo, RMT, ART, Shiatsu - AESM downtown

Mike is a graduate of the Kikkawa College program in massage therapy, and is also a Shiatsu provider.  He is also certified in Active Release Technique.  Mike is an avid long distance runner, and is able to give excellent advice on running shoe choices.
