Ergonomic Assessment

Ergonomics is by definition the study of the interaction between humans and their environment.  At AESM, we may recommend an ergonomic assessment of your work or home environment to determine if there are underlying factors which might have an impact on your injury.  Too short desks, poor lighting, chairs that can't be adjusted - these are all ergonomic problems that can lead to pain as well as reduced productivity.

One landmark study of ergonomics showed that every dollar spent on ergonomic assessment and design saved four dollars in lost productivity.

An ergonomic assessment includes anthropometric measurements (that is, measurements of you) as well as environmental measurements (such as desk height, reach to the keyboard, etc.)  The adjustability of your environment and its suitability to you are the keys to setting up an ergonomically-friendly workplace.
